Romania’s ghiseul.ro Tax Payment Service Available Nationwide By Oct 1

Romania’s IT&C Ministry on Thursday announced the online payment service via www.ghiseul.ro, through which individuals can pay their taxes on income and traffic fines, will be extended countrywide by October 1.

In addition, individuals will be able to utilize the service to pay their taxes and dues to the local and county mayoralties, while companies will be able to pay their taxes by card, the ministry said.

Part of the country’s online payment service e-guvernare.ro, the Virtual Payment Desk (GVP) available at www.ghiseul.ro, is a public utility electronic service through which individuals and companies can make payments to the central and local authorities in Romania.

The services are free of charge.

www.ghiseul.ro is under the management of the Informational Society Services Agency (ASSI).

According to IT&C Ministry’s data, the service was used to make 1,923 payments between January 1 and June 15, up from only 744 transactions registered in the corresponding period of 2008.
