“We will fight to support Lucian so we can enjoy his talent in Romania as well. Therefore, we consider organizing a fight here. I hope we will be able to do it this year and I believe together we will find solutions to watch him boxing here, in his home country. I believe he will be proud of this as well,” Iacob-Ridzi said at the end of a meeting with Bute in Bucharest.

Iacob-Ridzi presented Bute with an honorary plaque, while the professional boxer gave her a flag with Romanian Boxing Federation’s logo.

On March 14, Bute, who was born in Romania but lives in Canada, made his third successful defense of the crown since first winning the title in October 2007, with a fourth-round stoppage of Columbian Fulgencio Zuniga.
