Asked about reports in the media saying there is information from phone records regarding bribes received by certain ministers, Nicolaescu said that whoever holds such information, should make it public. He added he knows his home is being watched and his phone is tapped.
“I know my phones are tapped, there is a stake-out car in front of my house day and night, I know ministry employees are complaining about tapped phones as well. These things are not new to me knowing Traian Basescu. Not that he is to blame, but he is at the bottom of all this. I am sure he’s the one pulling all the strings,” Nicolaescu said.
He said that when the door of the stake-out car opens accidentally, he can see a television studio inside, while his phone makes funny noises when it is close to a radio, and text messages are directed onto his wife’s phone.
Asked if it is possible for the followers to be just paparazzi, Nicolaescu said “I’d be glad to find they are paparazzi, but they’re not.”
