Bazac said some of the doctors are on call for 36 hours straight.

“This 36-hour schedule is exactly what we are trying to correct. Romania and Albania are the only two states in the region that use the Soviet-like working hours,” Bazac said.

“We want to adopt the European schedule as of September 1, so that doctors will no longer be in the position to be on call for such many hours and, on the other hand, to have longer hours of medical assistance, so that the patients will be able to benefit permanently and without interruptions of medical assistance,” Bazac added.
