Romanian President Wants New Govt Instated By Dec 24

Romanian President Traian Basescu said Friday at the beginning of talks with the group of national minorities that Dec 29 may be considered for the investiture of a new government, but the urgency to adopt the state budget forces that date to Dec 24 or even Dec 22.

The head of state asked the representatives of national minorities that made parliament how they see a new government structure that would get the parliament’s go-ahead, to have a new government instated by Dec 24.

"We could also consider Dec 29, but the urgency with which we need to adopt a state budget obliges us to consider Dec 24, if not even Dec 21 or 22,” Basescu said.

On Thursday, Basescu said he hopes to appoint a candidate for the prime minster office by Dec 15, when the new Parliament meets in session.
