The private has not suffered life-threatening injuries, the Romanian Defense Ministry said in a statement.

"Following the blast, a Romanian soldier inside one of the armored patrol vehicles complained of headaches and was taken by helicopter to the military hospital at the Lagman Base. Private first class George Tircomnicu suffered a head concussion. His state of health is currently good and he is not in any danger," the Defense Ministry said.

The ministry also said none of the armored patrol vehicles suffered damages.

The country's highest defense body recently decided to deploy 600 more troops this year.

Since 2002, 12 Romanian troops were killed during military operations in Afghanistan and 52 were injured.
