Romanian residents’ financial holdings abroad stood at EUR3.2 billion in September, down 12% from December last year, central bank data showed Tuesday.

Residents’ international loans reached EUR7.35 billion at the end of September, up 18.4% from end 2009.

Romania’s September assets stood at EUR49.76 billion, up 13.8% from the end of last year, while overall liabilities increased by 7.7% to EUR126.5 billion.

Foreign private lending in Romania reached EUR55.7 billion in September, the data showed.

Foreigners’ investments in Romanian financial instruments hit a record of EUR1.15 billion in September, nearly double from December 2009.
