This comes as the social-democrats’ previous leader, Daniel Suciu, was appointed regional development minister in Prime Minister Viorica Dancila’s cabinet.

The Timis MP has been PSD’s deputy group leader in the chamber since February 2018. He is currently serving his first term as MP in Romania’s Parliament.

President Klaus Iohannis appointed two-time MP Suciu as regional development minister and Razvan Cuc as transports minister last week, following weeks of blocking the ruling party's nominations for the two offices.
