Black Sea concessions of energy resources stir political scandal

One day after the International Court of Justice ruling regarding the delimitation of the Black Sea continental plateau between Romania and Ukraine, the Romanian political class is inflamed by a huge scandal, which refers to the granting under concession of some exploitation perimeters from the Black Sea located in the area under dispute at The Hague.

The scandal burst out after the Social-Democrat Iulian Iancu announced on Wednesday that he requested from the National Agency for Mineral Resources and the Ministry of Finance the reports and the motivations which underlay the promotion and the approval by Tariceanu Government of the decision through which the right to share out the production from the continental plateau was conceded to Sterling Resources firm.
