Romania’s Pres Says Russia Should Try Different Approach Regarding NATO

Romania’s president Traian Basescu said on Monday speaking at the public television that Russia needs to forget about the logic of the cold war and try collaborating with the NATO alliance.

The president said Russia is still considering its relation to NATO from the Cold War perspective.

He said that Russia has to give up on regarding NATO as its enemy: “Who could imagine NATO ever attacking the Russian Federation?”said Basescu.

The head of the state said that Russia, as well as any other NATO country, can be subject to a ballistic missile attack and that the Federation can have much to gain from collaborating with the Alliance.
