Romanian Govt To OK ‘09 State Budget Next Thursday

The Romanian Government will approve the country’s 2009 state budget draft next Thursday, the vice-president of the Liberal Democratic Party PDL Gheorghe Flutur said after the meeting of the Ruling Coalition Coordination Bureau.

Flutur did not stipulate any figure on the percentages from GDP assigned to the ministries, but he added that Minister of Finance Gheorghe Pogea should discuss with the other ministers on this issue over the next days.

Flutur also said the Government targets a budget deficit of 2% of GDP in 2009, unlike the European Commission forecasts on a budget deficit of 7.5% of GDP.

The state budget for 2009 would focus on investments and social measures, he added.
