Romanian President Says Ministries’ Budget Requirements Would Push Def To 9% of GDP

Romanian President Traian Basescu said Friday during a debate that the budget requirements of ministries would push the country’s budget deficit to 9% of gross domestic product.

"The state budget needs to be adopted urgently,” Basescu said in a speech at the national conference of employers in Romania, adding that “the need to establish the budget’s parameters as soon as possible prompted the government to hold a Cabinet meeting Friday".

The head of state also said that if the government targets a budget deficit of maximum 3% of GDP, the requirements made by ministries would push the deficit to 9% of GDP.
