It said Bruynseels will take over as BCR’s CEO on July 1.

Bruynseels will replace Manfred Wimmer, who was appointed interim CEO following the resignation of Daniel Danila in December last year.

Bruynseels has been working with Barclays Bank for 27 years. His latest position was that of Senior Executive Director with Barclays’ Retail and Corporate Banking Division for Emerging Markets.

BCR became part of Austria's Erste Bank Der Oesterreichischen Sparkassen AG (EBS.VI) in 2006, when Erste bought a 61.88% stake in BCR for EUR3.75 billion.

BCR posted a record consolidated net profit of 924.8 million lei (EUR1-RON 3.6066) in 2007, up 22.3% on the year from RON756.3 million in 2006, boosted by higher retail lending.
