Basescu Says EU Agrees To Send Mission In Kosovo, Delay Decision On Province Statute

Romania voiced a positive, European position during the EU summit, which “defends the national interest,” Basescu said.

He said that Romania will not endorse an independent Kosovo without a U.N. Security Council resolution.

Basescu said Romania asked to be part of the European mission in Kosovo ahead of an expected declaration of independence from Serbia, mentioning the Romanian authorities will otherwise be unable to respond a request from a state whose sovereignty they do not acknowledge.
