Bucharest Subway Traffic Temporarily Halted Over Attempted Suicide

Traffic on one of Bucharest subway routes was halted Tuesday morning for about half an hour because of a woman who threw herself on the track and told rescuers arrived at the scene that she has no idea how she ended up there..

The incident occurred around 8 a.m., when traffic is pretty intense, subway company manager Gheorghe Udriste told MEDIAFAX.

Emergency rescuers were called to the scene for an attempted suicide. The head of the local emergency rescuing service SMURD, Bogdan Oprita, told MEDIAFAX the woman found on the subway track told paramedics she had amnesia and has no idea how she ended up on the train tack.

Paramedics got her off the tracks uninjured and she was taken to the emergency hospital.
