Carrefour To Open 4th Supermarket In Romanian Capital

Carrefour Romania, the local unit of French retailer Carrefour, Friday will open its fourth Carrefour Market supermarket in capital Bucharest, the company said in a statement.

The new supermarket is located in the "Home&Design Mall" shopping center.

It has a total surface of 1,200 square meters and 78 employees.

The store will sell approximately 8,400 items of which 1,000 under Carrefour's own brand.

Carrefour currently owns 22 hypermarkets and 26 supermarkets on the Romanian market.

The group's sales in Romania rose 7.3% on the year in the first quarter, at EUR269 million.

French group Carrefour owns approximately 3,000 supermarkets and 1,300 hypermarkets worldwide.
