Chamber of Deputies secretary Valeriu Zgonea said standing office members of the two chambers said Nica doesn’t need Parliament approval, because the Government’s structure isn’t changing.

Liberal vice-president Eugen Nicolaescu said in his turn that despite habit and the Constitution, the country’s rulers “decided that Mr. Nica doesn’t need to be heard by Parliament."

Social democrat leader Mircea Geoana said Monday that, following discussions in the ruling coalition, it was decided that the Parliament would vote in the plenary session Thursday whether to allow Nica to occupy both the position of deputy prime minster and interior minister.
