The former Romanian diplomat, Dinu Pistolea, left Russia in 2008, according to news website RIA Novosti, which cites the FSB press release.

Russian security services started investigations to identify the people with whom Gabriel Grecu, a Romanian diplomat to Moscow arrested Monday for attempting to obtain military secrets, was in contact, said Itar-Tass.

According to the FSB, cited by Interfax, Grecu was in possession of "spy gear," which pointed to "hostile activity against Russia" and an investigation is underway. The FSB also said the Romanian diplomat has been declared persona non grata and must leave the Russian Federation.
