Helicopter, Plane National Day Parade Flights Canceled Due To Fog

The flights of IAR Puma Socat helicopters and MIG 21 Lancer planes scheduled during the parade in Bucharest Monday, on Romania’s National Day, have been cancelled because of thick fog in the city.

Defense Ministry officials told MEDIAFAX the helicopters and planes wouldn’t leave the ground due to unfavorable weather conditions.

Romania celebrates 90 years since the unification of its regions into a single country.

Authorities organize parades and ceremonies in Bucharest and Alba Iulia, central Romania, where the unification was proclaimed 90 years ago.

The ceremonies will involve 2,000 soldiers from the Ministries of Defense and Interior, the Romanian Intelligence Service and the Protection and Guard Service.
