ICJ Ruling Does Romania Justice - President

Romanian President Traian Basescu said Tuesday in Budapest, Hungary that the ruling of the International Court in The Hague does Romania justice in the maritime delimitation dispute with Ukraine, adding the ruling is a great success of the Romanian Foreign Ministry.

Basescu, accompanied by foreign minister Cristian Diaconescu, visited a highschool in Hungary and met with members of the Romanian community.

Basescu cared to tell the Romanian community in Hungary that Romania won the dispute with Ukraine over maritime delimitation in the Black Sea.

He said the two countries were disputing an area of 12,000 square kilometers and the dispute between Romania and the former USSR and then with Ukraine, lasted for 40 years.

Bsescu added Romania will be able to exploit over 9,000 square kilometers of the disputed area.

"This is a great success of the Foreign Ministry,” Basescu said, adding Romania will see what is to be done in the future.
