Intercity Train Smashes Truck In W Romania

An intercity train going on route Budapest-Bucharest derailed on Sunday night near the town of Arad, western Romania, after colliding with a truck.

The truck driver was slightly injured during the accident.

The locomotive mechanic, Eugen Lacatus, said he tried to warn the driver, but the latter tried nonetheless to cross the rail.

The train collided with the truck and the locomotive caught fire immediately afterwards. However, the fire was put out.

Several teams of the Inspectorate for Emergencies came to the scene but fortunately, no one was hurt.

The passengers were embarked for their destination on other trains.

On Monday morning, traffic was still jammed in the area.
