Italy Grants Family, Maternity Allowances To Romanian Workers

Romanians who work in Italy can benefit from family and maternity allowances, whose amounts are set by the Italian government based on number of family members and total income per family, Romanian labor agency ANOFM said Friday.

The National Institute for Social Protection in Italy recently published the new levels for the allowances granted to families. It said the allowance for families in 2008 reaches EUR124.89 per family. To benefit from the allowance, the family’s income must not exceed EUR22,480.91.

State allowances for maternity and adoptions, which are granted for a period of maximum five months, were set at EUR299.53 a month.
