MAE facilitated the repatriation of 189 Romanian citizens from Malta, Egypt and Spain

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs renews the calls made previously regarding the avoidance of any external trips that are not absolutely essential and the recommendation that tourists or Romanian citizens temporarily abroad should return to the country as a matter of urgency.

At the same time, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs calls on Romanian citizens to show understanding and responsibility and to responsibly evaluate the opportunity of travelling abroad at this time. Such trips can entail major risks, jeopardizing the safety of citizens and their possibility of returning to the country. Also, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs calls on Romanian citizens residing abroad to strictly respect the recommendations of the authorities of these states and stresses that travel to Romania is not recommended. These trips may be affected by the restrictions imposed by the transit states and may be an additional factor in the spread of COVID-19 infection, thus endangering the safety of those at home.
