NATO Cannot Afford Defeat In Afghanistan - Bush

"We cannot afford to lose Afghanistan. (...) we must win," Bush said.

He emphasized that Afghanistan is "the most daring and ambitious mission in the history of NATO".

“Afghanistan still faces many challenges. The enemy has been driven from its strongholds, and no longer controls a single Afghan city,” Bush said.

“But as this enemy has been defeated on the battlefield, they have turned increasingly to terrorist tactics such as suicide attacks and roadside bombs. And if we were to let up the pressure, the extremists would re-establish safe havens across the country, and use them to terrorize the people of Afghanistan and threaten our own,” the White House leader warned.

Bush said NATO forces will remain on the offence and keep pressures on radicals and extremists.
