One Dies In Fuel Tank Blast C.Romania

One Romanian died in a fuel tank blast in Dambovita county, central Romania, officials said Wednesday.

The blast occurred at a park belonging to Romanian oil company Petrom, Dambovita Emergency Inspectorate’s spokesman Gabriel Gatej said.

He said the fire spread to two other tanks in the park.

According to Gatej, the man killed in the blast, Alexandru Martafelea, 30, was an employee of Petrom in charge with supervising the fuel tanks.

The cause of the blast remains unknown, Gatej said. He added the firefighters were able to extinguish the fire and no other casualties were registered.

The fuel tanks in the park have a capacity of 2,000-3,000 liters of fuel (crude oil).
