Romania Confirms 56th Swine Flu Case

Romania confirmed on Wednesday its 56th infection with the new A/H1N1 flu virus, in a 19-year-old woman who returned from Turkey two days ago, the Health Ministry said in a statement.

The young woman was placed under medical supervision and her condition is good, the ministry said.

This is the third swine flu infection confirmed in Romania over the past two days.

None of the 56 swine flu infections in Romania resulted in the patient’s death.

Worldwide, the current strain of H1N1 influenza A virus infected over 100,000 people, with the death toll reaching 449 patients, according to the latest figures released by the World Health Organization (WHO).
