Romania Govt Decides Elections-Referendum Combo Needs Separate Voter Lists

The Romanian Government decided that in the presdiential elections and the referendum there will be two electoral tables, not a single one, and people voting in special polling stations will file two self statements, changes that will generate additional costs of RON4 million.

The government reunited Friday evening to decide new regulations on the permanent electoral lists, the electoral table and the self statement regarding the vote in the referendum for a single-chamber Parliament.

Thus, interim Interior Minister Vasile Blaga explained voters will sign two tables, for the elections and for the referendum, and people who vote in special polling stations, abroad or at mobile urns, will file two self statements, acknowledging this is the one and only time they vote in that specific round of elections.

„Basically, those who attend voting will sign two tables: one for the presidential elections and one for the referendum. If they vote in special polling stations, abroad or on mobile urns, they will file two self statements acknowledging that this is the one and only time they vote in that particular round of elections,” Blaga said.

Blaga went on saying the new measures will increase spending by some RON4 million.
