Romania Jan-April Car Industry Up 2.1% YY To 83,042 Units

Romania’s auto industry rose 2.1% on the year in the first four months to 83,042 units, Romanian Association of Car Manufacturers and Importers (APIA) said in a statement Tuesday.

In April alone, car output was up 88.2% on the year to 30,169 units, APIA said.

Car exports rose 62.4% on the year in the first four months to 72,147 units. The imports however, were down 54.4% on the year to 24,825 units, APIA said.

In April, car imports on the Romanian market dropped 44.1% on the year to 11,636 units.

In 2008, Romania’s auto industry rose 1.5% on the year to 245,308 units.
