Romania Received EU Funds Worth EUR1.6B In '07- Report

Romania accessed in the previous year European funds worth EUR1.602 billion, with EUR315.4 million in compensations, and had a contribution of EUR930.9 million to the EU budget, according to the financial report issued by the EU.

The EU paid compensation worth a total EUR444.6 million in 2007.

From the total amount of expenses, EUR114 billion on an EU level, EUR44 billion (38.4%) were allocated to durable development, as Romania received EUR451 million in this area, according to the report presented by European Commissioner for Financial Programming and Budget Dalia Grybauskaitė.
 
For agriculture and rural development, the EU allocated EUR54.648 billion, while Romania received funds worth EUR23.9 million, exclusively for agriculture.
 
For the "citizenship, liberty, security and justice," the EU budget was EUR1.049 billion, Romania receiving EUR4.3 million.
 
For administration Romania received EUR18.8 million, from the EU budget of EUR6.805 billion.
 
In 2007, the EU budget grew by EUR8 billion (6.9%), remaining at 0.93% of the Gross National Income (meaning the GDP plus revenues obtained from the relations of a state with other countries, interest rates or dividends, minus debts paid), like in 2006. the nominal growth is due to Romania and Bulgaria’s accessions, the report informed.
