According to the ministry, new AH1N1 infection cases were registered in Alba, Bistrita, Brasov, Covasna, Iasi, Maramures, Mehedinti, Sibiu, Suceava, Teleorman and Vaslui (one case each), Cluj, Constanta, Harghita, Hunedoara and Timis (two cases each), Arges, Bacau and Ilfov (three cases each), Arad and Olt (four cases each), five cases in Botosani, Dambovita and Prahova (six cases each), 46 cases in Bucau and 12 cases in capital city Bucharest.
Over half a million people out of Romania’s population of nearly 20 million have been vaccinated against the AH1N1 virus. The locally-made vaccine is available for free to everyone aged over 16 and no side effects have been reported so far.
Romanian authorities said the country is ready to produce five million doses of vaccine until February.
