Romania's Foreign Affairs Ministry Calls For Ceasefire In Gaza

The Romanian Foreign Affairs Ministry states the urgent need for ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and expresses officially concern regarding the escalation of the situation in the area, the ministry said in a statement Sunday.

“The Foreign Affairs Ministry expresses deep concern with the escalation of the situation in Gaza and states the urgent need to cease fire and to ensure conditions allowing access of humanitarian assistance in the conflict area and the protection of civilians,” the statement read.

The preoccupation for the situation of the Romanian citizens in the area is a priority for the ministry.

The ministry “is taking all possible actions to facilitate the evacuation of the Romanian citizens who want to leave the Gaza Strip,” the ministry said.

The Romanian Foreign Affairs Ministry said until Sunday, GMT 1000, 55 Romanian citizens, (14 women, five men and 36 children) and nine Palestinian citizens requested consulate assistance in leaving the Gaza Strip.
