Romania’s Housing Min Says Construction Sector Boosts Econ Growth

"As we have all seen in the first quarter, Romania ranks second after Slovakia in terms of economic growth, with an encouraging 8.2% level. The construction sector currently represents the main factor driving the country’s gross domestic product up, and, from what I have seen, salaries grew 25% from the same period a year ago, which, once again exceeds inflation," Borbely said at the opening of the seventh edition of the CAMEX construction exhibition in Targu Mures, central Romania.

The minister spoke about the country’s fast-growing construction sector, stressing some of the Romanian immigrant workers already returned home, even if they work for foreign companies.

Borbely also pointed out that even more Romanians will return home if they get higher salaries.

The National Exhibition of Constructions and Installations CAMEX is held during June 5-8 and brings together nearly 100 companies.
