“Considering the market’s evolution so far and the mentioned aspects, we expect the new car sales to register an increase of 5% maximum, or even a stagnation of the market,” APIA said in a statement.

It mentioned a two-digit increase might be registered on the commercial vehicles segment.

New car sales on the Romanian market reached 110,839 units in the first quarter, up 13.9% on the year, APIA said, mentioning the growth pace was below the one registered in the first quarter of 2007.

New car sales in the first quarter of last year increased by 18.6% compared to the similar period of 2006.
