Romanian president Traian Basescu said Saturday that the objectives of the Romanian side in the NATO Summit were “achieved in maximal parameters”, and the efforts made by the Presidency, the Ministry of National Defense and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs were extremely important for Romania.

He mentioned, in this respect, that in the final document of the Summit the NATO stance on Bosnia-Herzegovina and Montenegro is maintained, Serbia will join the Alliance when it meets the requirements and the international community should get involved in solving the conflict in Georgia.
 
Basescu added the statement in the Bucharest Summit was once again uttered here, on the frozen conflicts in the Caucasus, and the territorial integrity of the Moldovan Republic should be supported.
 
In addition, Basescu said NATO decided to resume NATO-Russia relations, using the stances existing before the conflict in Georgia, when relations were frozen.
 
The president also said the allies continue to support the interests of the Black Sea area, mentioning that Romania will get involved in projects in the region, together with Bulgaria and Turkey, also inviting Ukraine, Russia and Georgia.
