Romania To Send EC Justice Progress Report By End-March

The Romanian executive will send the European Commission a report on the country’s progress in the justice system by end March, Justice Minister Catalin Predoiu said Wednesday.

The government adopted Wednesday the country report on justice system, which highlights the progresses recorded in justice reform and fighting corruption between June 2007 and March 2008, Predoiu said.

He mentioned the report also includes the activity of the High Council of Magistrates and of the High Court of Cassation and Justice.

In addition, the report presents the measures adopted for the elaboration of the Criminal Procedure Code and of the Civil Code, as well as for rendering the National Integrity Agency functional, emphasizing the positive vote of Senate members regarding the Ordinance 49/2007 on the Agency’s functioning.
