Busuioc gained nine points from the jury, seven points from online downloads of his song from the contest website and ten points from the audience. Thus, the 26-point score pushed him into the final round of the contest in a fierce competition against Yusmanis & Ricardo and Beatriz, where he performed “Nessum Dorma.”

After performing an aria of Verdi’s "La Traviatta", Busuioc gained 26 points, while "Nessum dorma" brought him another 18 points.

According to Romanian TV Channel Romantica, Busuioc said, at the end of the contest, that he did not expect to win, stressing he would continue to work hard from now on.

Busuioc thanked Romanians for their support, while the jury congratulated him on his success.

Busuioc is to sign a contract with Sony BMG to pursue a musical career, while the organizers of the "Hijos de Babel" show said they would back certain projects in the origin countries of the three finalists, which will be funded with the revenues obtained from online downloads of their songs.

A few days ago, Busuioc told radio channel Radio Romania International that he had already signed a pre-contract with Sony, pointing out his future musical career depends both on Sony’s decisions and his family whom he stressed is highly important for him.

During the other seven galas of the song contest, Busuioc performed "Nessum dorma," "Carusso," "Granada," "Con te partiro," "O sole mio", "Ave Maria" and " La donna e mobile," which placed him first throughout the entire competition.

Adrian Iorgulescu, Romania’s minister of culture, said he plans to offer Busuioc a scholarship to study canto and music theory at Bucharest Music University.

Moreover, Iorgulescu plans to fund Busuioc’s future concerts in Spain to offer Romanians living here the opportunity to know him.

Iorgulescu told MEDIAFAX he already held talks with Mihai Constantinescu, general manager of artist agency Artexim, to find a solution in this respect if Busuioc already signed a contract with Sony BMG.

Iorgulescu added Busuioc’s victory represents “a small step for him and a huge step for Romania”.
