Romanian Democrat Liberal, Liberal Presidential Candidates To Participate In Public Debate In Cluj

Antonescu told MEDIAFAX he will participate alongside Basescu in a public debate in Cluj-Napoca.

Geoana said Thursday he invited Basescu to participate in a public debate, adding the meeting might take place in a university, and not on television.

Basescu's spokesperson Sever Voinescu said Friday Basescu accepted Geoana's invitation and proposed the meeting should take place in Cluj-Napoca on Saturday.

Basescu said Friday Geoana should also have invited Antonescu to participate in the debate on education and economy, adding he accepted the invitation and highlighting he is not the one who organized the debate.

Antonescu said Friday evening on public television Realitatea TV he is ready to participate in a public debate alongside Basescu, Geoana or any other presidential candidate.
