Seres, a former economy minister, added the criminal file drafted by organized crime prosecutors is political and unrealistic.

"I will go to court to prove my innocence,” Seres said, adding “I have nothing to hide and I don’t want to end my political and professional career over such a thing.”

Romania’s former economy minister Codrut Seres and former communications minister Zsolt Nagy were indicted Monday by organized crime prosecutors, alongside another four defendants, in a file concerning shady privatization deals.

Prosecutors of the Department Investigation Organized Crime and Terrorism (DIICOT) indicted the two former ministers along Gabor Kerekes, Mircea Calin Flore (senior director of CSFB Europe Ltd. London), Czech citizen Michal Susak and Turkish citizen Mustafa Oral.

Prosecutors said that, between May 30, 2005 and November 21, 2006, the defendants were part of a criminal group that also included Vadim Benyatov, Stamen Stanchev, Dorinel Mihai Mucea and Mihai Radu Donciu.

Former minister Seres is accused of treason by leaking classified information and Susak and Flore are also accused of accessory to espionage.

The six were indicted regarding the privatization of Romanian power distributor S.C. Electrica Muntenia Sud, the sale of an 8% stake in the country’s dominant oil and gas company, privatization/restructuring processes at the country’s airliner S.C. Romaero S.A., aircraft maker Avioane Craiova, telecom operator Romtelecom and postal company Posta Romana.
