The Romanian Foreign Affairs Ministry said until Sunday, GMT 1000, 55 Romanian citizens, (14 women, five men and 36 children) and nine Palestinian citizens requested consulate assistance in leaving the Gaza Strip.

Romanian Foreign Affairs Ministry: 55 Romanians Asked For Help To Leave Gaza

The ministry said the Romanian Embassy in Tel Aviv is in permanent contact with Israeli authorities and makes all efforts to have Romanian citizens with valid identification documents leave the Gaza Strip.

To this purpose, Israeli ambassador to Bucharest, Oren David, had a meeting today with the headship of the Romanian Foreign Affairs Ministry.

The ministry said the Romanian Embassy in Tel Aviv telephoned 100 Romanian citizens located in Gaza, of whom 55 Romanians and nine Palestinians requested consulate assistance in leaving the area.

The ministry is making all necessary efforts together with the Israeli authorities to ensure the safe transit of the citizens who requested assistance to reach the crossing point at the border with Jordan.

The staff of Romania’s Embassy in Israel is further in direct telephonic contact with members of the Romanian community in Gaza to inform them on the procedures to be observed in order to leave the area, and is trying to identify as many Romanians as possible.

The Romanian Embassy in Amman has taken all necessary actions to ensure transit through Jordan of the Romanian citizens if the Israeli authorities allow exit from the Gaza Strip via the crossing point Erez.

 

The Romanian Embassy in Cairo continues efforts to obtain an answer from the Egyptian authorities regarding the entrance of Romanian citizens to Egypt via Rafah crossing.

 

The Foreign Affairs Ministry reiterates the recommendation to Romanian citizens in the Gaza Strip to contact the Romanian Embassy in Tel Aviv in order to start procedures to exit the territory.

The ministry consolidated the team of the Romanian Embassy in Israel. Romania’s diplomatic missions are working non-stop to offer assistance to citizens wanting to leave the conflict area.
