The association will call for the recalculation of the currently imposed fare kilometer rate for Bucharest, as the tariff of 1.39 lei (EUR1=RON4.2274) per kilometer is the lowest in the country. Some 80% of authorized freelance taxi drivers will lose their transport license by September 1 because of the low rate, high gas prices and increased taxes for authorized individuals, according to the press release.

Some 2,500 authorized taxi drivers are members of the ADTI.

Romanian Finance Minister Sebastian Vladescu announced that a 16% tax will be levied on copyright, stock market and bank interest income, as well as on the revenue of authorized individuals, starting July 1.
