Degeratu said his statements only reiterated the position both the Prime Minister and the President had adopted with respect to Kosovo that is of not recognizing its independence.
The official said he never hinted for Romania to change its stand regarding the independence of Kosovo and that he may have been misunderstood.
Earlier Tuesday, Degeratu said the country might change its position with respect to the newly created state of Kosovo, if it fits its interests and those of the European Union.
