Romanian Pensioners Might Be Compensated For Unused Train Tickets

Romania’s Labor Ministry might compensate pensioners for unused train tickets, according to a draft decision subject to public debate.

The act seeks to approve methodology to enact provisions of article 4 of Government emergency Ordinance 71/2004, with further amendments, concerning certain incentives granted to Romanian pensioners.
 
The compensations will be granted for the 50% discount train tickets that pensioners receive annually from the state, under provisions of article 1 of Law 147/2000 on discounts granted to pensioners within internal public transportation.
 
The first reference year to discount unused train tickets is 2008, the draft act mentioned.
 
The compensation value is to be set based on the average discount for train tickets used in the reference year.
 
The draft act is subject to public debate on the Labor Ministry’s website –www.mmssf.ro - until June 16.
