One of Romanian Prime Minister Emil Boc’s aunts died Monday evening after she was hit by a car in the village of Scrind, Cluj county, northwest Romania.

According to police officers, Floare Abrudan, 74, was walking home with another of Prime Minister Boc's aunts, having visited their sister - Boc's mother - when they were hit by a car.
Floare Abrudan died on the way to the hospital, while her sister was only lightly injured.
The driver fled the scene of the accident, but was apprehended later and found to have been under the influence of alcohol. He is 39 and is from the same village as Prime Minister Boc. The man has been charged with manslaughter and will appear before a court in the town of Huedin.
