Romanian Prime Minister Calin Tariceanu urged the country’s Defense Ministry to speed up the procedures needed to acquire military equipment for the army, stressing the government will urgently approve the decisions regulating the operation, as soon as notifications in this respect are submitted.

Romanian PM Urges Defense Ministry To Buy New Military Equip

Tariceanu pointed out during the ministry’s 2007 activity report meeting that the military equipment and devices are obsolete, stressing the army needs new equipment to prevent the government from major budget revisions in the future.
 
Tariceanu urged the ministry to ensure "a more flexible structure" of budget expenses, namely, to use budget funds to equip the army.
