Romanian PM Wants Govt To Assume Responsibility For Laws On Wages, Pensions, Education

“The government can assume responsibility whenever it wants to, Romania’s Constitution allows that. There is no limit on the number of such initiatives regarding the adoption of draft laws,” Boc said.

Boc said he plans to propose the Government to assume responsibility for the unitary wage law in the public sector, the law on the public pension system and the set of laws on education, to avoid delaying their adoption until next year.

“We have practically no other faster way to adopt laws than by telling Parliament to adopt them or we’re going home,” Boc said.

Prime Minister Boc called for an extraordinary Government session on Saturday at 10am, to talk on the draft laws on wages in the budget sector and on the reform of the pension system.

He said on Wednesday he established the meeting in order to analyze the conditions required to have the unitary wage law drafted and adopted until October.

He pointed out that the government he’s representing has “the political will” to continue reforms and “to go trough with them”.
