Basescu, alongside representatives of the parliament parties discussed a package of measures to counter the impact higher prices will have on the people with low income, without negatively affecting inflation, the statement noted.
The presidency said nothing on a possible meeting on the theme between Basescu and the executive.
Conservative deputy president Maria Grapini said earlier Tuesday that the head of state announced, during talks with political parties on the price hikes, that he would also meet with government representatives.
