Udrea said the party will put forth a candidate who enjoys local voters' confidence, adding she accepted to become interim leader only because the party's branch in Bucharest needs to be repositioned.
Democrat liberal secretary general Vasile Blaga said recently that Udrea has chances to win election for Bucharest mayor, adding that current mayor Sorin Oprescu, an independent, is a "serious contender" for this position.
Udrea was appointed interim president of the party's branch in Bucharest on July 19, 2010.
