Romanian Transport Min Introduces Crossing Passes On Two Bridges Over Danube

Romania’s Transport Ministry Friday introduced annual passes including 50 or 100 crossings on Danube bridges Giurgeni-Vadul Oii and Fetesti-Cernavoda, and the passes prices range from 160 lei to 4,760 lei (EUR1=RON4.2778), depending on vehicle type.

To cross the Giurgeni-Vadul Oii bridge, motorcyclists will have to pay RON160 for a 50-crossing pass and RON280 for a 100-crossing annual pass, while car drivers will pay RON320 for a 50-crossing pass and RON560 for a 100-crossing annual pass.

Microbuses and vehicles weighing under 12 tons will need RON760 for a 50-crossing pass and 1,330 for a 100-crossing annual pass.

Vehicles with three axes and weighing over 12 tons will benefit from 50-crossing passes worth RON1,280 and 100-crossing passes worth RON2,240.

The most expensive bridge passes are for vehicles with four axes and weighing over 12 tons. The prices for this type of vehicles range from RON1,880 for a 50-crossing pass and RON3,290 for a 100-crossing pass.

To cross the Fetesti-Cernavoda bridge motorcyclists will have to pay RON280 for a 50-crossing pass and RON490 for a 100-crossing annual pass, while car drivers will pay RON400 for a 50-crossing pass and RON700 for a 100-crossing annual pass.

Microbuses and vehicles weighing less than 12 tons will pay RON1,400 for a 50-crossing pass and 2,450 for a 100-crossing annual pass.

Vehicles with three axes and weighing over 12 tons will benefit from 50-crossing passes worth RON1,880 and 100-crossing passes worth RON3,290.

The most expensive bridge passes for the Fetesti-Cernavoda bridge are for vehicles with four axes and weighing over 12 tons. The prices for this type of vehicles range from RON2,720 for a 50-crossing pass and RON4,760 for a 100-crossing pass.

Until Friday, drivers did not benefit from bridge-crossing passes and had to pay for each crossing they made.

Bridge-crossing passes are issued based on the applications transmitted to the Cash and Control Agency in Fetesti and Giurgeni.

Applications are available on the Romanian public roads authority CNADNR's website and at the road authority in Constanta.
