Romanians To Pay Road Toll For Access On Future Pitesti-Sibiu Highway

The future Pitesti-Sibiu highway, central Romania, will be executed based on lease procedures and a road toll will be paid for the access on the highway, while construction works are to start in 2009, Romania’s minister of transports Ludovic Orban said Tuesday.

"We shall revise the feasibility study until February 2008 and the highway will be executed through lease procedures. A road toll will be paid for the access on the highway," said Orban at the end of a seminar on transportation issues.

The highway execution contract will be signed late 2008, said Orban, declining to mention the deadline for the execution of works.

The feasibility study for this project located on the Pan-European Corridor IV was conducted in 1999.
