The spokesperson of the Bucharest Police Department, Christian Ciocan, said Thursday that football mogul Gigi Becali is accused of deprivation of freedom after his car had been stolen in January this year.

Six people, among whom Becali’s former bodyguard, athlete Catalin Zmarandescu, were heard Thursday in connection with this case, while some of Becali’s properties continue to be searched by police officers.

According to police officers investigating the case, in January this year, three people were dashed into a car trunk in the middle of the night, taken to a residence in Pipera and detained for nearly three hours for allegedly stealing Becali’s car.

Police officers suspect that Becali ordered to have three taken to the headquarters of the New Generation Party (PNG) in Pipera, therefore, they thoroughly checked the location Thursday morning, along other properties.
